2002 Jaguar XKR-R

2010 NW Regional Concours Champion - Jaguar Clubs of North America

Jaguar introduced the 4.0L V8 powered XK8 in 1996, the spiritual successor to the fantastic E-Type. Within two years, the supercharged version of the XK8 was introduced, with horsepower increased 38% to 370hp. The new model, designated the XKR, became one of the fastest production cars in the world, with a 0-60 time of 5.3 seconds and capable of a top speed of 175 mph (unrestricted.)

In 2000, Jaguar introduced additional performance and handling to the XKR by introducing a special performance and handling package developed by the company's SVO (Special Vehicles Operation) Department. Developed on the XK180 concept car, the XKR R Performance package included two different styles of BBS 20-inch alloy wheels from which to choose, shod with Pirelli's P-Zero tyres and backed by Brembo 4-piston brakes with aluminium calipers, ventilated and cross-drilled rotors, The package also included Jaguar's CATS (Computer Advanced Technology Suspension) system and a special handling pack consisting of uprated springs, stiffer front and rear sway bars, and tuned variable ratio power assisted steering. . The end result was a car with exceptional ability to stop, corner and handle as well as it provides blinding acceleration.

Our Aspen Green Mica XKR is equipped with the R Performance package. The 20" Paris BBS wheels on our car were a factory option. The wheels were introduced on the Jaguar XK180 concept car at the Paris Motor Show. We are fortunate to have won concours trophies in our class at the 2010 Jaguars on the Island and Portland All-British Field Meet JOCO Concours, 2012 Class win Vancouver All-British Meet & Vancouver to Whistler Run participant.

Jaguar XK180 concept car and Jaguar D-Type: The XK180 took styling cues from the 1950's D-Type and the later E-Type from the 60's which had taken many of its styling cues from the D-Type as well.
Jaguar XK180: Styling which carried over to the XKR can be seen in the mesh grille, hood louvers and hood bulge, the flowing front fenders. Pictures show that both cars share the same family heritage.
Jaguar XK180: The XK 180 was built on a shortened XK8 platform. More similarities between the cars can be seen from this side view. Notice the BBS Paris wheels which were to later appear as an option for the XKR.
