Ferrari
(Lancia) D-50
As a boy in the late 1950’s, my father
(well mostly my father) and I put together a model of this legendary Grand Prix
car driven by one of my racing heroes, Juan Manuel Fangio, to the World
Championship in 1956. Unfortunately, I
knocked over the bottle of glue and much of the model was ruined. The shape of the car and its tanks on each
side gave the car a purposeful, almost menacing look as a race car. I never forgot it and today it remains one of
my all-time favorites (I even constructed another model – successfully, a few
years later. One I still have!
